Twelve people have been shot and one person was killed by a gunman at a Kroger supermarket in a Memphis suburb on Thursday, The Commercial Appeal reported.
The gunman killed himself in a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.
Jennifer Casey, a spokesperson for Collierville, Tennessee, told The Commercial Appeal newspaper that people were being taken to the hospital stemming from multiple injuries.
“We found people hiding in freezers, and in locked offices,” Collierville Police Chief Dale Lane told reporters. “I hate that we had to do that here.”
According to the Daily Mail, schools in the area were put on lockdown.
