Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss say in the lawsuit that Jim and Joe Hoft, who write for The Gateway Pundit, produced a “campaign of lies” which “instigated a deluge of intimidation, harassment, and threats that has forced them to change their phone numbers, delete their online accounts, and fear for their physical safety.”
Freeman and Moss have been targeted in a number of conspiracy theories that have been promoted by conservatives in the months after the 2020 election, according to NBC News. Companies that make voting machines have also filed lawsuits aimed at media companies that are responsible for spreading false claims about their part in the election.
