2022 Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame Inductees Announced

Twelve entertainers and three groups are being honored by the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame, which aims to protect the legacy of Black music.  

The 2022 Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame inductees have been announced and it includes an array of the best and brightest in the industry.

The Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame launched in 2021. The initiative is led by the Black American Music Association and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus. It aims to “honor iconic individuals and organizations that have impacted Black culture and community alongside those who continue to lead us into the future.”

The Black American Music Association was founded in 2017 and is an organization for music professionals, creators and scholars to protect and promote the legacy of Black music. The Georgia Entertainment Caucus is an Atlanta-based organization that hopes to bridge the gap between Georgia’s political landscape and the entertainment industry.  

Last year’s inaugural inductees included Usher, Beyoncé, Kirk Franklin, Shirley Caesar, OutKast, Missy Elliott, Sean Love Combs and Michael Jackson.  

The 2022 inductees honored as entertainment titans include:  

Berry Gordy Jr.  

Smokey Robinson 

Cicely Tyson 

Ray Charles  

Other 2022 honorees include:  

  • Legacy Artist – Lionel Richie 
  • Mainstream Male – Prince 
  • Mainstream Female – Mary J. Blige 
  • Mainstream Male Group – New Edition 
  • Mainstream Female Group – TLC 
  • Male Gospel – Donald Lawrence 
  • Female Gospel – Yolanda Adams 
  • Gospel Group – Bebe and Cece Winans 
  • Male Hip-Hop – Snoop Dogg 
  • Female Hip-Hop – Lauryn Hill  
  • Mainstream Mogul – Tyler Perry  

The inductees will be honored on Feb. 1, 2021, in Atlanta.
