Heroic Child Saves Mother’s Life With a Phone Call

By Briasia Russ

7-year-old Daniel Armani got the chance to sit in the front of a fire truck after making a courageous call to 911 operators.

His mother, Clark, has been experiencing epileptic seizures her whole life. She’s been teaching Daniel what to do if she began suffering from a seizure since he was 4 years old.

According to Chicago Suntimes, the Chicago Fire Department Communicator Dianne Statts-Mareci was surprised at how calm Daniel communicated through the call.

“This kid was spot-on. He was calm. He answered all the questions. He was very concerned to make sure his mom was OK and he kept telling her that she was going to be OK,” Statts-Mareci said. “He talked to me calmly, calmer than most adults I talk to. He handled it like a champ.”

As a result of his heroic call, Armani was rewarded with a challenge coin and certificate from the Executive Director at the Office of Emergency Management. He also received a plastic fire helmet and fire truck.

Armani and his family were also invited to tour the 911 center and Engine 16 fire station, where he was gifted with a bike and helmet.
