She was a 22-year-old student majoring in computer science at Texas A&M University. Shahani died at an intensive care unit on Nov. 10 around 7 p.m. while being surrounded by her family, according to CBS News.
“She was like an angel for us. She was the head of the family; she was a very nice girl. Always calm, always listens and she had a bright future,” her father said at a news conference.
Shahani’s mother Karishma emotionally described her daughter as “love,” always thinking about everybody other than herself.

“I want my baby back. I won’t be able to live without her. It’s impossible,” she said. “I don’t know what to do without Bharti.”
Bharti’s younger sister, Namrata was with her at the Astroworld Festival. They were holding each other’s hands before they were separated in the crowd surge. According to CBS News, the last thing the 22-year-old said to her younger sister was, “Are you OK?”

“Words cannot describe how I’m feeling right now. I cannot put into words what Bharti meant to me because it feels like she meant everything to me. We were always together, always doing things together” Namrata said. “I’ve never not known what it feels like to be without her.”
