Ahmaud Arbery Trial: Defense Attorneys Report Plan To Appeal

All three defendants were found guilty by the jury of the fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery. The trial’s defense attorneys announced they plan to appeal the decision.  

The jury of the trial has found the three white men guilty of murdering Ahmaud Arbery, and defense attorneys have announced their plans of appealing the decision. According to Newsweek, attorneys for Gregory McMichael publicly proclaimed their plans to appeal the decision. Additionally, an attorney for Travis McMichael also announced their plan to appeal.

However, the appeal process cannot begin until the sentencing is complete. Jason Sheffield reported that he plans to appeal the jury’s guilty verdict.  

“This is a very difficult day for Travis McMichael and Greg McMichael,” Sheffield said to reporters outside the Brunswick, Georgia, courthouse. “These are two men who honestly believed that what they were doing was the right thing to do. However, a Glynn County jury has spoken. They have found them guilty. They will be sentenced.”
