A Black Philadelphia couple shown being kicked off an American Airlines plane with their newborn baby in a viral Instagram video is suing the airlines, according to The Independent.  

The video shows the woman, Kamia Hoilett, speaking to the airline’s flight crew right before a flight from Charlotte to Philadelphia, shooting back at allegations that she was rude to one of the crewmembers.  

“I didn’t get aggressive with her. The young man back there who said I got aggressive; he wasn’t even there. He’s all the way in the back. I didn’t do anything,” Hoilett says in the video recorded by Allan Ali, the child’s father.  

According to WBLS, Hoilett was letting another passenger into their row, resulting in her temporarily blocking the path for a flight attendant. She reportedly asked the crewmember for some space when they responded with, “Is this going to be a problem?  

Hoilett said the flight attendant spoke to her passive-aggressively. Another attendant can be seen speaking to Hoilett, informing her that the captain requested the family be removed from the plane.  

“I just want this to be known that she has a newborn, you’re putting her off the plane due to the negligence and unprofessionalism of one of your staff members. She did absolutely nothing,” Ali can be heard saying in the video.  

“Today could’ve been avoided with a little human decency and compassion…. I ask you had my queen not been Black… would this have occurred. The question is unequivocally no! @americanair we need answers! Please continue to share we need justice!!!” Ali wrote on Instagram.
