The next talented gospel artist to be recognized by “Start Your Day” hosts Sharon Reed and Mike Hill is Koryn Hawthrone. She was born and raised in Abbeville, Louisiana and got her foot in the industry when she was 17 years old as a part of singer Pharrell Williams’ team.
When it comes to her singing, it’s all about building a relationship with God and with Jesus Christ.
“Gospel is literally about spreading the message of Jesus Christ. And that’s what’s important to me, and I don’t really care what that sounds like or what it looks like I just hope that more people can get the message of how good he is, cuz I feel like if you knew Jesus then you just as the more you want to tell people about it,” Hawthrone said to BNC’s Nerrisa Knight.
During her career, she appeared on NBC’s The Voice and Greenleaf. The 23-year-old has produced songs like “Unstoppable”, “Warriors”, “Won’t He Do It”, “Speak the Name” and “Bless Up.”

“What solidifies what I do, is being able to talk to different people, young women, men like kids who are like, ‘oh my God like you don’t know how much your music has inspired me.’ There’s nothing that beats that,” she said.
Hawthrone performed her song called “Sunday” inside the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville, Tennessee.
