WHO: Charles M. Blow is a critically acclaimed journalist, author and host of “Prime with Charles Blow” on BNC, prime time’s most enlightening nightly news program where he makes sense of the critical issues and histories that impact culture today.
Through his op-ed column at The New York Times and regular appearances on CNN, BBC, Fox News, MSNBC and HBO to discuss timely topics related to his column and his own life, Blow has effectively covered and analyzed the most pressing issues of our time — including social justice, racial equality, presidential politics, police violence, gun control and the Black Lives Matter Movement.
Blow is the author of the bestselling memoir Fire Shut Up in My Bones, which won a Lambda Literary Award and the Sperber Prize, and of The Devil You Know: A Black Power Manifesto, which was released in February 2021 and became an instant New York Times Bestseller. In 2016, Blow was a Presidential Visiting Professor at Yale where he taught a seminar on media and politics, tracking the presidential race in real-time.
Blow graduated magna cum laude from Grambling State University in Louisiana, where he received a B.A. in mass communications, and he holds an honorary doctorate of Fine Arts from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston and an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from MCNY.
