Minneapolis (BNC) – Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey cried as he knelt down in front of George Floyd’s casket. Martin Luther King III and his family also paid their respects.

Thousands have gathered to remember the man who died in police custody and caused a global call for action to end police brutality. Civil rights activist Reverend Al Sharpton is delivering the eulogy.
The private ceremony is being held at North Central university and will not only be a celebration of his life, but according to the family’s attorney Ben Crump, will be “a plea to America and a plea for justice that we don’t let his death be in vain.
The NAACP is calling for today to be recognized as a National Day of Mourning in recognition of George Floyd. They are asking for everyone to pause for a moment of silence at 3:45pm Eastern Standard Time for eight minutes and 46 seconds, the length of time the former officer who is charged in his murder, had his knee on his neck.
George Floyd leaves behind a six year old daughter among many other loving family members.
