Cousin of Pharell Williams shot, killed by police in Virginia Beach

The cousin of singer-songwriter Pharell Williams was shot and killed by police in Virginia Beach.

Williams, a native of the town, tweeted about the incident.

According to NBC 12, police said two people were killed and eight people were injured in shootings near the oceanfront on Friday.

The two victims were a woman who has not been identified and Williams’ cousin Donovan Lynch.

Police said the woman was likely an innocent bystander and that Lynch was armed when they encountered him. He was then shot and killed by a Virginia Beach police officer.

According to WAVY-TV 10, the officer who killed Lynch is on administrative leave, which is protocol.

Lynch’s friends described him as “intelligent, kind and passionate.” He was a graduate of the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, where he played football for two seasons.
