Adolph Thornton, Jr., a.k.a. Young Dolph, was shot and killed outside of Makeda’s Butter Cookies on November 17, 2021. The rapper was a huge fan of the establishment and came in “every time he comes home,” according to the owner.
Memphis police previously released pictures of the two people suspected of shooting the rapper multiple times. Video surveillance showed the suspects exit a white two-door Mercedes-Benz armed with handguns and approach the rapper as he was inside a bakery.
“This shooting is another example of the senseless gun violence we are experiencing locally and nationwide,” Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis said at the time. “Our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who are affected by this horrific act of violence.”
