The New Jersey man was caught on camera yelling out racial slurs to his community. The viral video shows him publicly announcing his home address and in response, protestors began to show up.
This isn’t the first time Mathews has caused a disruption in his community. After the video went viral, people decided to speak out about previous experiences with Mathews.
According to NBC, the Mount Laurel Police Department reported that this type of behavior is unacceptable.
“The Mount Laurel Police Department does not tolerate hate or bias intimidation in any form. This type of behavior is totally unacceptable,” a police spokesperson said. “We can assure our residents that incidents like this are thoroughly investigated and that those who commit such offenses will be held accountable for their actions.”

Marcus Sibley of the Southern Burlington County NAACP reported to NBC that protestors decided to show up to Mathews’ home because they are angry.
“People are out here because they’re angry,” Sibley said. “They felt they could say the most horrible thing you could say to a Black person and there would be no repercussions.”
In response to the viral video and multiple complaints, police hand cuffed Mathews and he was charged with harassment and bias intimidation.
