This latest development comes two months after the 56th governor of New York resigned as a result of accusations by multiple women of sexual harassment. There was an investigation into the matter conducted by New York Attorney General Letitia James for five months.

On Aug 3, the report was released and it found that Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women who were staffers, including a state police trooper. Attorney General James concluded that because of his conduct, he broke federal and state laws.

According to CNBC, five district attorney’s offices in New York state counties were investigating possible crimes by Cuomo against some of the women.

A week after the disturbing report was released, Cuomo resigned as governor, avoiding possible impeachment.

“I think that given the circumstances the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to governing,” Cuomo said in an address

Mariann Wang, a lawyer for Alyssa McGrath and Virginia Limmiatis, two of the women accusing Cuomo of wrongdoing, expressed her gratitude in a statement.

“My clients are enormously grateful for the courage of the women who have come forward to speak the truth about Cuomo’s misconduct,” Wang said to FOX News. “Cuomo is being held to account as he should be, including by being forced to answer a criminal charge. We hope that all men who abuse their power by abusing women will see this and understand that there will be real consequences to their profoundly damaging behavior.”
