Former President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit against Facebook, Twitter and Google on Wednesday, claiming that the companies have censored him and other conservatives.
In a press conference in New Jersey, where the companies’ CEOs were present, Trump, alongside other plaintiffs, made the announcement. The suits were filed in federal court in Miami, according to the Associated Press.
“We’re demanding an end to the shadow-banning, a stop to the silencing and a stop to the blacklisting, banishing and canceling that you know so well,” he said.

The one-term president and the other plaintiffs allege that banning him from their platforms is a First Amendment violation. Facebook, Twitter and Google are not government entities but are private companies.
Santa Clara University law professor Eric Goldman told the AP that Trump’s suits would most likely fail in court and the former president could be doing it for attention.
“They’ve argued everything under the sun, including First Amendment, and they get nowhere,” Goldman said. “It was always about sending a message to their base that they’re fighting on their behalf against the evil Silicon Valley tech giants.”
