Member of Blackalicious, Gift Of Gab Dies at 50

The legendary member of the duo Blackalicious has passed away at the age of 50. According to Complex, the cause of his death stems from his diagnosis of kidney failure seven years earlier and years undergoing weekly dialysis.  

Parker’s family announced in a statement his homecoming date and asked that the family’s privacy be respected.

 “Tim peacefully departed this earth to be with our ancestors on Friday, June 18, 2021,” a Quannum member said. “It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother.”  

“He is survived by two brothers, one sister, many nieces and nephews, countless friends, and fans across the globe,” a Quannum member said. “We ask that the family’s privacy is respected as we mourn the tremendous loss of our dear brother.” 

Friends and family members continue to spread love across social media in remembrance of the legendary rapper.  

One of Parker’s DJ’s reminisced about the time he first met the rapper and the memories they shared in a statement.  

“Tim Parker was more than just original; he was unique,” DJ Shadow said. “And he was, quite simply, the most preternaturally gifted MC I’ve ever worked with.”
