House Republicans voted to replace Representative Liz Cheney with Representative Elise Stefanik as the House conference chair. The vote was conducted Friday, and Stefanik was appointed with a 134-46 vote.

Stefanik went against Representative Chip Roy, who is a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus. Representatives Jim Jordan, Virginia Foxx and Cathy McMorris Rodgers also received a single vote each, The Hill reported.

Cheney was removed from her leadership position after her criticism of former President Donald Trump. She was one of ten House Republicans that voted to impeach Trump for inciting the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol in January. She also went against Trump’s false claims that the election was stolen from him.

The vote did not remove Cheney from office, and she still holds her position as a Representative for Wyoming.
