The Friday actor has promoted the use of face masks throughout the pandemic and has even done his part to help those on the front lines, partnering with Black Out to release “Check Yo Self Before You Wreck Yo Self” t-shirts, during which all sales went to frontline health professionals. He also donated 2,000 face masks for personal protective equipment to Oklahoma’s Bacone College in August and has been photographed on more than one occasion wearing face masks during his Big 3 basketball tournament.
The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that there are no national vaccine mandates in the film and television industry, giving individual producers the right to decide whether essential crew members and people in Zone A, usually the project’s major performers, are required to show proof of vaccination.
Ice Cube is one of many celebrities who have opted to exit work instead of getting vaccinated. Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving has been making his rounds in the headlines lately for his decision to not be vaccinated against COVID-19, instead accepting the consequence to not practice or play with the team due to New York’s policy.
“I’m standing with all those that believe what is right. Everybody is entitled to do what they feel is what’s best for themselves,” Irving said in an Instagram Live following his ban. “Seeing the way this is dividing our world up…it’s sad to see…People are losing jobs to mandates.”
