Jaden Smith to Open Vegan Restaurant to Feed the Homeless

Jaden Smith has decided to expand his food truck initiative into a full-fledged restaurant servicing the homeless with free vegan meals in Los Angeles and other cities.

According to Complex, the new restaurant is named after Jaden’s “I Love You” food truck initiative, which he launched nearly two years ago on his 21st birthday. Smith tells Complex that his goal was to provide “healthy, vegan food for free” to those in need in Los Angeles’ Skid Row area.

With the “I Love You” restaurant Smith wants people who can afford to pay for their meal to pay it forward by spending a little more on their meals to allow those who are homeless to have an opportunity to receive a free meal.

“But if you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you,” he explained.

Smith’s philanthropic efforts have also included creating Water Boxes in 2019, providing clean water to residents of Flint, Michigan who were impacted by the contamination of lead in its municipal water supply since 2014.
