Report: Jashyah Moore Stabbed, Had Bleach Sprayed in Eyes by Mother

The mother of the former missing New Jersey teen Jashyah Moore was arrested on Friday.

Jashyah Moore has dealt with years of abuse at the hands of her mother, according to NBC News. A complaint was filed in an Essex County court which points to allegations against Jaime Moore, who is accused of physically and verbally abusing her 14-year-old daughter.  

It included refusing to enroll her in school and forcing her to panhandle. There were also situations where Moore was beaten with a frying pan, stabbed in the shoulder, had bleach sprayed in her eyes and her braids pulled out, according to NBC News. 

According to the complaint, the abuse went on for years and it led the teenager to run away from home.  

These incidents left Moore with bruises and scars, according to the complaint. 

She was last seen on Oct. 14 after she went to a deli in East Orange, New Jersey. After being missing for almost a month, Moore was found safe in New York City on Nov. 11. 

Her mother was arrested on two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. According to a statement by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, it includes “allegations of physical abuse and also neglect.” 

As a result, Moore and her three-year-old brother were removed from their mother’s custody by the NJ Division of Child Protection and Permanency.

According to a release BNC obtained from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, 39-year-old Jamie Moore of East Orange, New Jersey was charged with two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Allegations against her include physical abuse and neglect.

Moore was arrested by detectives from the Special Victims Unit and the East Orange Police Department. She will be housed at the Essex County Correctional Facility while waiting to appear before an Essex County Central Judicial Processing Court.  

Jashyah and her three-year-old brother have been removed from their home and are in the custody of the NJ Division of Child Protection and Permanency.

Moore spoke to BNC Thursday about her daughter, who was missing at the time, alleging she may have been abducted. Jashyah was located in New York City on Thursday night after being missing for nearly one month.
