Variety was the first news outlet that leaked the news about Hudson’s new show which will be produced by the team behind The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ellen executive producers Andy Lassner and Mary Connelly were the showrunners for Hudson’s pilot that was shot on the Ellen soundstage.
It is being reported that Hudson’s show would be a new talk show and not an extension of Ellen. The show is currently being pitched for the fall of 2022.

DeGeneres made the announcement that the 19th season of her show would be the last in May.
“It’s going to be really hard on the last day, but I also know it’s time,” DeGeneres told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “I’m a creative person, and when you’re a creative person you constantly need to be challenged, … And as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore. I need something new to challenge me.”
The Kelly Clarkson Show will move into DeGeneres’ former timeslot after her show ends next year.
