Las Vegas Raiders Release Wide Receiver Henry Ruggs III After DUI Arrest

The Las Vegas Raiders are in another unfortunate situation as they released wide receiver Henry Ruggs III on the night of Nov. 2. This is in response to him being charged with driving under the influence and crashing his car into another car, which left one woman dead, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department

The incident happened around 3:39 a.m. on the morning of Nov. 2 near an intersection where LVMPD found a Chevrolet Corvette and a Toyota RAV4 on fire, according to CNN. Firefighters went to the scene to put out the fire and found an individual deceased. 

“A 2020 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling northbound on S. Rainbow Boulevard, south of Spring Valley Parkway, in the center travel lane of three northbound lanes at a high rate of speed. The Chevrolet veered right and entered the right-most travel lane, which the Toyota occupied,” LVMPD said in a press release. “The front of the Chevrolet struck the rear of the Toyota. The Toyota came to final rest and caught on fire with the driver trapped in the driver’s seat.”

Ruggs III had shown signs of impairment as he, along with a passenger, were taken to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada to be treated for their injuries, according to CNN. 

Currently, he is being held at Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas and faces one count of DUI and one count of reckless driving.

Ruggs III was drafted by the Raiders in the 2020 NFL draft out of the University of Alabama.
