Letitia Wright Injury Halts Filming for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

In Summary

Marvel Studios put a pause on filming the upcoming Black Panther sequel due to an on-set injury and expects to restart filming early next year. Letitia Wright’s reported injuries were minor.

Filming for Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has temporarily halted while Letitia Wright recovers from an on-set injury from August.

Production will halt starting the week of Thanksgiving and resume in early 2022. Wright received the injury from a stunt rig on location in Boston. Initially, Letitia’s injury was not expected to affect the filming process as director Ryan Coogler along with the rest of the cast were still filming scenes in Atlanta.

In a release shortly after her injury, Marvel Studios confirmed Wright was to recover in a London hospital and could return to filming in early 2022. Deadline reports director Ryan Coogler has shot all that’s required outside of Wright’s sequences.

According to Deadline, she has been released from the hospital.

Wright joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the sister to Chadwick Boseman’s titular character T’Challa, playing his genius, younger sibling Shuri. After the tragic death of Boseman following a bout with cancer, Wright’s character is stepping up to keep the lore of Wakanda alive.
