LeVar Burton’s stint as guest host of Jeopardy! has finally arrived.
“When this opportunity came by, I could not pass it up,” Burton said in an exclusive interview posted on the show’s YouTube channel.

The show will match the total winnings of the contestants to the charity Reading Is Fundamental.
The Reading Rainbow and Star Trek star is hosting the show from Monday, July 26 to Friday, July 30.

LeVar Burton will finally get his chance to host the long-running game show Jeopardy!
The game show said Wednesday that Burton would be one of the guest hosts to close out its 37th season.
“THANK YOU… to all y’all for your passionate support!” Burton tweeted. “I am overjoyed, excited, and eager to be guest-hosting Jeopardy! and will do my utmost best to live up to your faith you in me. YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE!”
Fans petitioned for the Reading Rainbow star to host the iconic show. Nearly 250,000 people signed a Change.org petition to be the next host of Jeopardy!
“Whether I get this job or not, I’ve already won,” Burton told Black News Tonight’s Marc Lamont Hill earlier this month. “With all the support, I have to believe they’re are listening.”
ABC News’ Robert Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, David Faber and Joe Buck were also announced as guest hosts to close the season.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper is currently guest-hosting the show. Jeopardy! has had many guest hosts following the passing of iconic host Alex Trebek in November following his battle with cancer.
