Ludacris Goes Incognito Presenting Gift Cards to Atlanta’s Homeless

In Summary

Ludacris is concealing his identity as he hands out gift cards to Atlanta’s homeless community.

Ludacris is in the giving spirit this holiday season, putting one of his dad’s theories to the test as he handed out gift cards to Atlanta’s homeless community.

The rapper, whose real name is Chris Bridges, detailed the experiment in an Instagram post.

“My pops used to always say ‘If you give a homeless person money they’re just going to go buy booze wit it.’ I always wanted to disagree with him because as a kid, in my heart I always felt that couldn’t be 100% true,” Luda said in his caption as he handed a gift certificate to a man in a wheelchair.

Ludacris went on to say he has been masking up and putting on a disguise while passing out gift cards to the homeless people in order to give them more incentive to buy food—a present that appears to have made the man in the video very happy.

“I flipped his theory, and i added my own twist to it because I REFUSE to NOT believe in HOPE #merryludacrismas #tistheseason #lovewins,” he said.

This isn’t the first time Ludacris has gone incognito to spread some holiday cheer. He was praised in 2018 for his generosity while grocery shopping at an Atlanta-area Whole Foods.

CBS News reported since her husband’s death from cancer in the summer of 2014, Therra Gwyn-Jaramillo had been “struggling on and off.” She couldn’t afford to pay her full $375 grocery bill, so the “kind stranger” in front of her, who turned out to be Ludacris, paid it for her.

She later went viral on Facebook when she detailed the incident and realized who had helped her in her time of need.

“This event taught me something I thought I already knew. It taught me the true power of being kind to strangers,” Gwyn-Jaramillo said at the time, per CBS News. “He’s probably done this hundreds of time. But I couldn’t forget it.”
