Men Can Unwind at Men-Only Nail Salon

Despite the challenges and hardships, Shana Soberanis turned her pain into happiness by becoming a business woman.

In December 2018, her six-year career in software support came to an end and she needed another job.

After having no luck in landing interviews, potentially losing her home, and the passing of her sister, Soberanis decided to go to nail school to clear her mind. While in nail school, Soberanis was motivated to learn the different aspects of pedicures. This led her to receiving her certifications, passing the licensing exam and taking a certified Master Pedicurist course.

In April of 2021, Soberanis opened her men-only nail salon, The Man Cave.

To keep her nail salon different from others, services are private. The Man Cave offers a “Not Your Average Joe” service and a music preference questionnaire.  According to Newsweek, clients can select what they would like to watch on an 86-inch TV with a drink of their choice.

Soberanis helps clients who aren’t comfortable with their feet. Her private services work as a comfort for men who have medical problems.

According to Newsweek, A client once told her that he buys bigger shoes due to his toenails. He had refused to go to any other nail salon because he said he was so embarrassed,” Soberanis said. “He initially didn’t want to come for an evening appointment because he was concerned there would be too many people around.”

In result of the exceptional service and uniqueness of the salon, Soberanis has gained seven repeat customers and satisfied online reviews.

Soberanis loves what she does and is working towards opening another salon in Charleston.

“I liked being an IT analyst but there are always limitations when you work for someone else,” Soberanis said. “Now, there are no real limitations. I control my own schedule. I’m extremely happy. I love what I do.”
