A Missouri family is celebrating their newest addition, but not without some much-deserved praise for the newborn’s nine-year-old big sister.

Aubree Rose was born at home on June 28. Her mother, Angelica Gunn, was home alone with Aubree’s nine-year-old sister Aakayla and their four-year-old little brother, per Good Morning America’s Aryana Azari.

The birth was celebrated on Instagram, with Gunn noting how Aakayla had to step in and fill daddy’s shoes because though he tried his best to get there fast enough, Aubree Rose had other plans.

“Our miracle number 3 has arrived! Our 9 year old helped deliver baby girl at home… We didn’t make it to hospital and Aubree Rose was born at home on 6/28, 7lbs, 9oz 19 inches….,” Gunn said on Instagram.

A certified doula and nurse, the mother of three highlighted how nervous she was putting the responsibility of birthing a newborn on her young daughter. But in that moment, she didn’t have much of a choice.

“All I can tell y’all is that God kept us in those moment. He gave me strength to fight through it and Kayla strength to help bring our baby earth-side… we are beyond proud of our daughter and her heroic efforts. I desired a natural birth, and that is what God allowed to happen in the comforts of our own home,” she said on Instagram.

Gunn also thanked her own sister for staying on the phone with her throughout the entire ordeal, adding that the entire situation is just “truly miraculous on all levels.”

Gunn and Aubree Rose were transferred to the hospital shortly after the birth and are both feeling happy and healthy.
