Four-time Grammy-winning rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer Missy Elliott received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, KABC reports.
Elliott fought back tears as she acknowledged the people behind her successful career, from her producing partner Timbaland and her record label to other women in hip hop that came before her.

“I’d come here 20-some years ago and just used to walk past all of these stars and just imagine,” she said. “It’s just a blessing to dream big and it truly happened. I’m truly standing here.”
Ciara, Lizzo and manager Mona-Scott Young were on hand to help introduce Elliott at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Ceremony. Elliott’s star will be on Hollywood Boulevard.
Elliott and her producing partner Timbaland were able to fuse innovative lyrics with bass throbbing beats that can be heard on songs from late R&B singer Aaliyah, including “One In A Million,” “If Only Your Girl Knew” and “Hot Like Fire.”

Elliott debut album Supa Dupa Fly was certified platinum but more importantly, it introduced fans to an artist who defied the odds with unique music videos that allowed her to wear an oversized Black suit in “Rain” or become a video game character in “Sock it to me.” All of Elliott’s five albums were certified platinum.
