“Our lives are completely changed. My soul is shattered,” said Scarbriel. “Does not get easier — does not. I don’t think it will get easier.”
Miya Marcano was a 19-year-old college student at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida with dreams of a great future. However, it all changed when she was reported missing on Sept. 24 as she was last seen at the Arden Hills apartment complex, where she had worked in the leasing department.

“They (Arden Hills) did not respond to the calls from when we called the emergency line to Orlando,” Marlon Marcano said. “No call with a condolence or a card.”
Marcado was scheduled to get on a flight to go to Fort Lauderdale to visit her family but never got on the plane. Authorities named Armando Manuel Caballero a person of interest as he worked alongside Marcano in the apartment complex.
“They gave him the master key to her apartment. He was waiting for her inside when he got in there,” Scarbriel said.

There was a week-long search for Marcano, and she was found dead in a wooded area near an apartment complex on Oct. 2. Despite being under five feet, the 19-year-old was full of strength, according to her mother.
“She exceeded my expectations because you know she’s very smart – she knew what she wanted— was not easily influenced.” she said. “What Miya wants; Miya is gonna get.”
