Nine children injured in shooting at Louisiana birthday party

Nine children were injured in a shooting at a 12-year-old’s birthday party in LaPlace, Louisiana, Saturday night.

Eight of the victims in the shooting were between the ages of 12 and 17.

Two victims, a 14-year-old shot in the head and a 16-year-old shot in the stomach, remain hospitalized in stable condition, ABC News reported.

According to police, the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. on Golfview Drive in LaPlace at a party with about 60 young people in attendance.

Two groups of boys with an ongoing feud allegedly met at the house and began arguing.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said shots were fired and more than one weapon was used.

He said the shooting investigation has been “frustrating” as police struggle to make arrests with no help from people at the party.

“We have not one witness, not one person that saw anything yet. So we’re trying to solve it on our own right now,” Tregre said. “I’m going to be polite — it’s more than frustrating.”

The investigation is ongoing and Tregre said his office would not stop.

“Somebody’s gotta come forward. This cannot just go like this,” he said.
