One of two suspects caught in Austin shooting that left one dead, 13 injured
UPDATED – 6/14/21 at 12:00 P.M. – Police have identified the one person killed in the Austin, Texas shooting as 25-year-old Douglas Kantor. According to CNN, the Saturday morning shooting took place in the city’s entertainment district on East Sixth Street. Austin Interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident that was between two parties. According to a press release by Austin police, one suspect is in custody and the search for the second suspect is ongoing.

At least 13 people were injured during a mass shooting in downtown Austin early Saturday morning, according to reports.
According to Interim Chief of Police Joseph Chacon, 11 people are being treated at one hospital, one at another hospital; and another person is being treated at an emergency room, KXAN reported.
“I’m happy to report no one has died,” Chacon said.

The incident happened in Austin’s busy downtown area, where there are a lot of bars and restaurants. It’s unclear what the suspected shooter’s motive was, according to NBC News.
“Our officers responded very quickly,” the interim chief said. “They were able to immediately begin life-saving measures for many of these patients, including applications of tourniquets, applications of chest seals.”
The interim chief said that the incident seems to be isolated. A suspect has not been found.
