George Floyd statues in Brooklyn and Newark were recently vandalized. The New York Police Department is searching for the four suspects involved in damaging these monuments.
Authorities learned about the vandalism of these statues early Thursday morning. Surveillance video of the suspects has been released.
On 6/24/21 at 3:40 AM, four individuals defaced a George Floyd monument at 1545 Flatbush Ave, Bklyn. Black spray paint was used to deface the sculpture and cover text on the pedestal. “PATRIOTFRONT .US” was stenciled in white spray paint on the pedestal. The NYPD Hate Crimes division is looking into the defacements of these statues and is asking anyone with knowledge of the perpetrators to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline.
Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was recently found guilty for the death of George Floyd. The death of George Floyd in May of 2020 sparked outrage and a global protest movement.
