Television personality Porsha Williams is opening up about her experience with R. Kelly for the first time, according to People magazine. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star spoke to authorities about her story with the disgraced R&B singer. 

“I realized it was my opportunity to help anyone who’s been hurt by him,” Williams said to People magazine. “There had been so many other instances where I had been abused by men that my mentality [at that time] was of an abused person, and that it was okay for me to be treated like that.”

The experience happened in 2007 when she was 25 years old as she trying to get into the music industry. Williams flew to Chicago to meet with R. Kelly and possibly work with him, according to People magazine. She thought she would be headed to a recording studio but instead, went to Kelly’s home. 

A person led the future RHOA star to the singer’s bedroom and she was alone there for hours. When Kelly came, Williams was told to take her clothes off, according to People magazine. 

“I’ve already put myself in this position,” she wrote in her upcoming book called The Pursuit of Porsha: How I Grew Into My Power and Purpose. “This is what you’re supposed to do. You have to. There is no turning back.”

Williams would see the singer, who was found guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering in September, two more times. In her book, she says she encountered several young women who were also staying at Kelly’s home, according to People magazine. After hearing a woman being beaten in another room, Williams made the decision not to see him again.
