Randi Weingarten, ’Teaching the Truth About CRT Is Not Radical or Wrong’

By: Tadi Abedje

Republican lawmakers across the country have expressed their disdain for critical race theory. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, critical race theory is an “intellectual movement and loosely organized framework of legal analysis based on the premise that race is not a natural, biologically grounded feature of physically distinct subgroups of human beings, but a socially constructed category that is used to oppress people of color.”

As a result, 10 states—Idaho, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Iowa, Utah, Georgia and Florida—have banned critical race theory from schools. Randi Weingarten, who is the president of the American Federation of Teachers, joined Charles Blow on his show “Prime” to discuss the importance of teaching the subject.

All this and more on “Prime.”
