Congresswoman Maxine Waters wants an end to qualified immunity for cops and won’t support any bill that removes the measure from police reform bills.
Waters was on The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart when she made her intentions clear about qualified immunity, according to Revolt.

“I do not want to send any message to anybody that I am willing to support legislation that does not have it in it. I think we have got to be tough; we have got to be consistent and understand that we have got to hold police officers accountable,” the California congresswoman said.

Waters cites the continued killing of unarmed Black men by police, who have the support from police unions that use their power to intimidate city councilmembers,
“I’m so proud of those mayors that are willing to stand up and fight — and for the police chiefs that are willing to stand up and fight,” she said. “But history tells us that they have been intimidated too long, given too much and the police don’t believe that they’re going to be held accountable. That’s why even after George Floyd, they continued to kill. And so, I want qualified immunity out.”
