Rev. Jesse Jackson Falls, Hits Head While at Howard University

Civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson was in the hospital and undergoing tests after a fall at Howard University.  

Reverend Jesse Jackson was hospitalized Monday after falling and hitting his head while on the campus of Howard University.  

According to CNN, the civil rights leader was on the campus of the HBCU to speak with university President Wayne A. I. Frederick about the conditions of student residence halls.

“When Rev. Jackson entered a building on campus, he fell and hit his head,” a statement from the Rainbow PUSH Coalition said. “His staff took him to the Howard University Hospital where various tests were run including a CT scan. The results came back normal. However, hospital officials decided to keep Rev. Jackson overnight for observation.”  

The university confirmed the events on Twitter, saying, “We can confirm that Rev. Jackson was taken to the hospital by a university administrator and was later joined by Dr. Wayne Frederick. Our prayers are with the Jackson family.”

The 80-year-old has been facing health challenges in the last few months. In August, he and his wife Jacqueline were both hospitalized with COVID-19.

Jackson’s visit to Howard University comes as students have been protesting their living conditions and giving a list of demands to the school administration requesting immediate action.
