Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be shot in live action, with a principal character voiced by none other than Idris Elba.
As reported by The Verge, Knuckles the Echidna will be teaming up with Dr. Robotnik, played by Jim Carrey, “in search for an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations.”
Elba will be teaming with Sonic’s original voice actor Ben Schwartz and live action actors James Marsden and Tika Sumpter. The film will also feature Miles Prowers, or Tails, who appeared in the credits for the previous film.

Sonic fans were not pleased with the first trailer for the live action Sonic the Hedgehog film, so the design was changed. However, this change did not impact the success of the film. Elba also starred in the film Cats as Macavity the Mysterious Cat that left viewers amazed at his versatility. There’s no doubt that Elba will again amaze viewers in the sequel.
Look I saw Cats. Idris Elba is down to do anything. And he commits!
