The Beverly Hills police department has arrested a suspect in the killing of Jacqueline Avant, BNC confirmed.  

Jacqueline Avant, the wife of music legend Clarence Avant, was killed in a home invasion on Wednesday.  

“To the Beverly Hills community, let me reassure you, this is one of the most protected and patrolled cities in the world,” police chief Mark Stainbrook said in a press release. “Crime of any kind will not be tolerated here. Let this be a message to anyone thinking of committing a crime in Beverly Hills- you will be caught and brought to justice.”

Police said multiple surveillance videos showed a suspect’s vehicle near the area where Avant was murdered.  

Jacqueline Avant’s death has rocked the community and the lives of the people who knew her.  

“Mrs. Avant was a force of compassion and empowerment locally and nationally for decades, as well as a model of service and giving back to those who needed it most,” Congresswoman Karen Bass said on Wednesday.  

Former President Bill Clinton also sent condolences following her death, “She inspired admiration, respect & affection in everyone who knew her. We are heartbroken. She will be deeply missed.”
