Police said multiple surveillance videos showed a suspect’s vehicle near the area where Avant was murdered.
Jacqueline Avant’s death has rocked the community and the lives of the people who knew her.
“Mrs. Avant was a force of compassion and empowerment locally and nationally for decades, as well as a model of service and giving back to those who needed it most,” Congresswoman Karen Bass said on Wednesday.
Former President Bill Clinton also sent condolences following her death, “She inspired admiration, respect & affection in everyone who knew her. We are heartbroken. She will be deeply missed.”
