Target committed to spending over $2 billion with Black-owned businesses by 2025, the company announced on Wednesday, according to the New York Times.
The company will work together with more Black-marketing companies to introduce Black-owned products from over 500 Black-owned businesses to its store and website.
“We have a rich history of working with diverse businesses, but there’s more we can do to spark change across the retail industry, support the Black community and ensure Black guests feel welcomed and represented when they shop at Target,” said Christina Hennington, Target’s executive vice president and chief growth officer, said in a press release.
Target joins other retailers who have pledged to work more closely with Black-owned businesses since last year’s racial reckoning over police brutality following George Floyd and Breonna Taylor’s deaths.
The company previously committed to addressing racial equity in its business and improving representation among its worker, the Times reported.
