Rapper Travis Scott will cover the funeral costs of the eight people killed at his Houston concert on Friday, his representative said in a statement to CNN.

“Travis remains in active conversations with the city of Houston, law enforcement and local first responders to respectfully and appropriately connect with the individuals and families of those involved,” according to the statement. “These are the first of many steps Travis plans on taking as a part of his personal vow to assist those affected throughout their grieving and recovery process.”  

In addition to those killed, hundreds of people were injured at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas, when the crowd violently pushed forward toward the stage. There were nearly 500,000 people at the concert, per reports.

Astroworld organizers are providing full refunds to all ticketholders of Friday’s show and to those who planned to attend Saturday’s show before it was canceled, CNN reported.   

“I’m absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival,” Scott tweeted on Saturday.   

Festivalgoers described mayhem at the event, which saw people passing out and getting trampled on.   

“We were all screaming for help, and no one helped or heard us. It was horrifying. People were screaming for their lives, and they couldn’t get out. Nobody could move a muscle,” TK Tellez told CNN.
