Travis Scott Denies Responsibility of Deaths at Astroworld Festival

In Summary

The rapper is being sued by over 1,500 people who attended last month’s concert, who say Scott is partly responsible for the deaths and injuries stemming from the stampede at the festival.

Travis Scott has denied responsibility for the deaths that happened at last month’s tragic Astroworld festival in Houston, according to PEOPLE.

Filing a response to 11 lawsuits and counting where he’s named as a defendant, Scott and his company “generally deny the allegations” and requested for the cases to be dismissed without prejudice.

In November, 10 people died and hundreds were injured at the Astroworld Festival. According to The Guardian, over 140 lawsuits have been filed by over 1,500 people who attended the concert.

Days after the concert, Scott offered to pay the funeral costs for the families of the victims, including that of 9-year-old Ezra Blount, who was the youngest person to have died at the festival. Ezra’s family rejected Scott’s offer to pay for the funeral.

“I have no doubt Mr. Scott feels remorse. His journey ahead will be painful. He must face and hopefully see that he bears some of the responsibility for this tragedy,” Bob Hilliard, the Blount’s family attorney, wrote in a letter to lawyer Daniel Petrocelli, Scott’s lawyer.

Scott’s offer to pay for Ezra’s funeral doesn’t impact the lawsuit filed against him by Ezra’s dad Treston Blount, the New York Post reported.
