During the chase, the trooper fired his taser at the 27-year-old and then attacked him in a move he described as a foot strike, according to WSB-TV.

“When you have someone on the ground already, there’s no need to stomp on him,” said activist Scotty Smart, who often speaks out against police brutality. “Luckily, social media took a stance and people recorded the situation or else, we wouldn’t have even known about another Black man being stomped on by law enforcement.”

“This officer’s actions are INEXCUSABLE! He chose to harm a man already on the ground rather than de-escalate the situation,” attorney Ben Crump said on Twitter. “The officer must be held accountable for this brutal display of force!”

Lucas was arrested and charged for crimes such as fleeing, obstruction of an officer, reckless driving, failure to obey a traffic control device and no seatbelt, according to WSB-TV. Lucas is currently on probation.
