Winners of 2021 MTV ‘VMAs’ Announced

In Summary

The winners of the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards were announced at an in-person ceremony on September 12. 

Music’s most popular celebrities gathered in New York to celebrate music videos and spectacular musical performances at the MTV VMAs.  

Artists Justin Bieber and Megan Thee Stallion led the list of nominees, but Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodrigo and BTS emerged victorious with the most awards for the night.

The winners of the night include:  

Video of the Year 

  • Lil Nas X – “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” 

The video received heavy criticism when it was first released for images depicting the singer lap dancing on Satan, but despite the controversy, it won the top award of the night. In his acceptance speech, Lil Nas X used the time to promote his album, which will be released on September 17.

The event was hosted by rapper Doja Cat and featured performances by Lil Nas X, Justin Bieber, The Kid Laori, Alicia Keys, Chloe Bailey and Normani.
